Just behind Saint E'z church is a ghetto called "Rome". It's called Rome because it is behind the Roman Catholic Church. Here people live in terrible poverty. Many have no running water, no sanitary facilities. Unemployment is high. Criminals prey on this defenseless community. In the past month, in this neighborhood alone, there have been a dozen people shot and 5 of them murdered. We are helping with the funeral of one of the victims. Gunshots ring out in the night and sometimes in broad daylight. What is it like to be a child growing up in this neighborhood. The children pictured below come to Saint E'z church. They have seen, firsthand, the corpses of their murdered neighbors. Some of their parents have been told they have to leave the ghetto or gunmen will come after them and their children. Saint E'z helped these children obtain clothing from the Salvation Army. Here are the children on the day that they returned home with their "new" clothes:
